HIV Care and Treatment

Mildmay Hospital Uganda was founded on a mission to provide comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment. Today, we continue to lead in offering high-quality, compassionate HIV services to individuals, families, and communities — ensuring that everyone can live healthy and productive lives.

Mildmay integrates HIV care with other health services such as sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and management of non-communicable diseases. We provide person-centered, holistic care that respects confidentiality, dignity, and diversity.

What we do

HIV Testing and Counselling: Confidential testing and guidance to help clients understand their status.

Antiretroviral Therapy (ART): Lifelong HIV treatment and follow-up to maintain viral suppression.

Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT): Support for HIV-positive mothers during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding.

HIV Prevention Services: Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), and risk reduction counselling.

Care for Children and Adolescents: Age-appropriate HIV care and psychosocial support.

Laboratory Monitoring: Routine viral load and CD4 testing to track treatment progress.

Community Outreach: Follow-up, home visits, and peer support for continuity of care.

Psychosocial and Nutritional Support: Counselling, mental health services, and nutrition guidance for better treatment outcomes.
