Yes, Mildmay Uganda works with multiple insurance schemes to allow patients to access care more affordably. Costs depend on the type of service (outpatient, inpatient, diagnostics, specialist care). For HIV services, many are subsidised or free (especially ART), depending on donor support, national programs, or whether the patient is part of a government-supported scheme. Always ask ahead about fees for non-HIV or specialist services.

Mildmay runs several community-based programmes: for example, differentiated HIV service delivery models like Community Client Led ART Distribution (CCLAD), Community Drug Distribution Points (CDDP), adolescent programmes, prevention and testing programmes, male involvement in maternal health and HIV prevention. These bring services closer to communities to reduce travel time and increase access.

At Mildmay Uganda, patient safety and infection control are top priorities. We follow strict sterilization protocols for all surgical instruments, regularly audit hand hygiene among staff, and maintain clean and safe facilities. Our maternity and surgical theatres are equipped with operating standards recommended by Uganda’s Ministry of Health. We also do regular staff training, monitor nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infection rates, and ensure proper waste management and isolation procedures when dealing with infectious cases.

Yes — Mildmay Uganda has an in-house team of specialists covering internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, surgery, and infectious diseases. When highly specialized interventions are needed, we coordinate referrals to appropriate national or international centers while ensuring continuity of care.
